  • Labrdogs Kennel:

for ALL BREEDS it is an average of 59-65 days and usually about 63 days from ovulation which mayor may not be at the time of the first tie. You can at about 5 weeks old take your JRT into the vet and have an ultrasound done to see if their is a litter and get some idea of count, not 100% accurate on count, or about a week before expected delivery go in for an x-ray for skull counts, again not 100% could be more than counted.

How many was in your JRT’s litter when you picked her up from the breeder? this will give you a start for what she will probably have for number of puppies.

  • Sancira:

    63 days on average

I think the average for all dogs are all about the same. about 6-8 weeks.

Typically Jack Russell Terriers are pregnant for 59 to 63 days.
You can get an ultrasound for the mom at about 30 days to see how many puppies there are. You can have an x-ray done at about 59 days to confirm the numer of puppies.
    Have you bred her yet.
Did you have a brucellosis test done on the stud?
Are you ready to pay for office visits for the *****? (female dog!)
Are you ready to pay for highest quality food/vitamins for her?
Do you have all the whelping supplies? Including a safe box, heating lamp, and emergency medical supplies in case she delivers a dead puppy or one in distress?
Are you ready to risk the life of your *****? Bad things can happen if you aren’t prepared.
Do you know what to do if a puppy isn’t breathing?
Are you ready to stay in the house for the next 120 days while the puppies need care?
Are you ready to pay for new puppy visits?
Are you ready to pay for first set of vaccinations for EACH pup?
Are you ready to pay for having the puppies tails docked?
Are you ready to pay for having dew-claws removed?
Are you ready to pay for puppy formula and food when they start eating regular food?
Are you ready for pee/poop all over your house?
Are you ready to take a puppy back if the person who bought one changed their mind?
LOTS TO CONSIDER WHEN BREEDING –
make sure you can do all the above before you even think about it. I hope it’s not too late. Good luck? !!
