I had this very same issue with my pug....went back to crating....only took about a week and she decided that it wasn't worth it to potty in the house..so she quit... (crate should only be big enough for her to stand up, turn around and lay down in).

and, yes....I do agree with you it's spite or anger...she was mad at me for leaving her alone..so she's *** on my bed or **** on my sofa.

First, I doubt it's spiteful. Dogs just don't work that way. Stress was a much more likely answer. That and terriers can be a bit stubborn when it comes to training anyway.

Most likely the crate you had was a tad big, so she could *** or **** in a corner then move away from it.

I'd start housebreaking with crate training all over again and from square one and get her back on track. Some dogs just get off track on their training and you have to start all over again. And I'd make sure you have the right size crate.

Also clean all the spots she's hit very well because dogs tend to return to the same places over and over again. I recommend a product called Urine-off available from vets and online. It's better than anything else I've found for urine stains.

Here are some very helpful websites. Good luck.

First of all, dogs do not do things out of spite.
Stress, fear, anxiety...yes. Revenge - no.

Maybe try not letting her in right away when she goes out and comes right back. I would try giving her enough time to go back out in the yard and do her business.

Another thing I would try is taking her for a walk before you leave. Walking will help stimulate bowels and will help her feel less stressed once you do leave.

Lots of praise and treats for her when she DOES go outside!!

Sounds like she's not getting enough exercise & mental stimulation. Instead of letting her out in the yard get up a bit earlier so you can take her for a walk.
My female Jack used to do the same thing, now that she gets more exercise she has stopped.
