Puppy Crate Training – How To Start To Leave Your Puppy
This is the next step in puppy crate training. After a few sessions of getting your dog relaxed with going in and out of the crate, start shutting the door for a little while. Start with staying in the room with your puppy for short periods of time while praising him for being in the crate. Then begin to go out of the room and then come back in with a treat to reward your puppy for being calm in the crate.
You will then want to gradually extend your time out of the room to get your puppy used to you not being there. Some pups will hollar at the top of their lungs the second you shut the door, this is common and should be ignored. If you happen to open the crate when your puppies are complaining, then that just makes them associate whining with you opening the crate door for them.
Calmly wait until your pup halts the whining and open the crate door.Your puppies will learn to like the crate over time and begin to feel comfortable inside and stop the noise. If you don’t give in to your puppy when it’s screaming to get out and wait for it to calm down, you will feel better in the long run. Puppy whining is definitely one of the harder aspects of puppy crate training.
If you start to see your puppy go into the crate on it’s own to rest, then that means it feels safe and secure and likes the crate. Remember, the crate should never be used as a form of punishment. You always want your pup to feel safe and secure it it’s crate and like being in there.Your puppy should never be left alone in your house by itself anytime even for a few minutes.
Most puppies are very mischievous and will quickly start exploring things that you don’t want them to.Not only an issue for the owner of the puppy, but can also be dangerous to the puppy itself. When you have to take a shower or something else in the house and can’t keep an eye on your puppies, just put them in the crate for a little while.
After your puppy is in the crate for a short period of time, immediately take it outside and wait for it to use the bathroom. As soon as your puppy starts to use the bathroom outside, start praising it immediately. You want your dog to realize at this point that this is the action you want it to do.
Here you can use another command such as “Good Potty”, “Good Bathroom”, or “Good Outside”.Your dog should begin to link this command with relieving itself outside.Take your puppy back inside when it is finished.Your puppy can only go a short period of time without relieving itself so keep doing this over and over again………consistency counts when puppy crate training!!!
Puppies obedience training.
It is terribly important for your dog to always be obedient to the owner’s commands.
Dogs obedience training begins on key issues like sitting, standing, walking, listening to your commands & obbeying them, sitting in the car, etc.
Your dog can’t be expected to be obedient by virtue. You must take pains to make it understand that it mustobey your commands.
Puppies obedience training can be imparted in different ways – two of the most popular approaches are the typical carrot and stick methods.
The first method depends quite a lot on the stick or punishment approach.
The second method deals with a reward system for the dog.
Dog training using leash and collar has been used for many years now. It is primitive but it is still followed widely.
This method is based on the concept that the leash will become the mode of communication with the dog.
The dog must be able to understand the commands, and if not obeyed to, the leash should be put to action. However, using the leash alone will not suffice - your dog must be made aware of what is considered good or bad behavior. When it persists in having bad behaviour, the dog can be punished with the leash.
On the contrary, the reward system does not rely on punishment to train the dog. It follows a more psychological approach to dog training. The dog is made to know what sort of behaviour will be the one rewarded. Its unexpected behaviour is neglected in the form of psychological treatment. The trainer or owner walks away from the dog immediately after the show of bad behavior. Dogs are intelligent enough to understand the difference between expected and unexpected.
Whatever technique is used for Puppies obedience training, it is essential to know that the training must be consistent. Dogs get easily confused when double standards are employed. If you expect your dog never to jump on the bed, you must never let get on the bed.Make sure that your dog never reaches the bed.
You too are able to impart dogs obedience training.Alternatively, you can get your dog enrolled in some obedience classes or delegate it to a dog instructor. Evaluate all the training techniques, methods, equipment, infrastructure, experience, before making the final decision to resort to outside help.
Remeber you are the ideal instructor for your dog. And your dog will be delighted.
